A floor made of tile is beautiful and at the same time is not going to give when it comes to walking around your home. A wood floor is also beautiful and is going to provide that give and softer floor when walking around your home. Rugs and carpets provide that softer cushioned flooring on top of tile and wood, too. There is another alternative that can be good choice and that comes with soft flooring such as rubber floors that look like wood and carpet and more.

All the way back to historical Chinese rug making comes the creation and addition of beautiful designs and color to the home decoration in rugs. The pieces that are hand woven also have a worded brown border and are dated back as late as the 19th century. The rug industry in the late 19th century took a huge turn for the best in China. Hundreds of hand knotting factories was producing thousands of rugs to be exported all over the country. The production was very high and labor was cheap. The designs were fabulous but creative with many colors.
Color was added in the early 19th century and by the 1920’s manufacturers were combining Chinese motifs with new designs and colors. A modern rug in the Chinese influence can be found in this hand tufted sage green with cherries rug. Traditionally the Chinese used blues, yellows, reds and ivory but then they added wild colors such as green, fuchsia and brilliant gold. The Chinese kept their traditional figures such as hanging lanterns, curved bridges and exquisite vases. At this time bamboo, lotus flowers and splashes of color were added across the field of the rug. Dragons, phoenix birds and butterflies were starting to be added in an Egyptian style. Designer rugs moved this creation forward and now we have a huge assortment of designer rugs and area rugs to choose from.

Simper Fi is a very common phrase and this phrase invites everybody under the umbrella of the Marine Corps of the United States Army. This slogan is very often used by the marine corps of the American armed forces. It is a message to the common man telling him that he can also be a part of this force and this force is probably the most demanding force in the entire world. The marines are regarded as the finest fighting unit in the entire world and naturally this force will demand a lot from the soldiers.
Owners of the throw blankets with Semper Fi depicted feel honored and this can be also regarded as a kind remembrance of the men who have sacrificed their lives for their motherland. The true meaning of this phrase is utter faithfulness. This blanket throw will be liked by your kids too; they too dream of becoming a marine when they grow up. This blanket throw can be kept anywhere inside your house but it will add elegance to the interiors of your house. They are of superior quality and finish. People who want to respect the marines can go for this throw blanket. The superior quality of this blanket makes it long lasting.

The weather has turned magic and people are outside and beginning the process of cleaning out the clutter from their homes. Many turn to the Salvation Army with donations. Soup kitchens are showing up with more donations, too. A small room in the back overflows with all matter of things… rugs, lamps, as well as soaps and shampoo and other misc items. And they are all $1 or less to give the needy a chance to spruce up their “home”.
Many homeless eventually get back on their feet and end up getting a home. During the transition period and after many will come to the soup kitchen to eat and look around in the back for things they might need and use in their new quarters.
It’s all working out when we give to a variety of places with our junk that turn into treasures for others… give and receive the join in the gift to others.

The soup kitchen is rock’en every noon hour when the food is being put on plates and served to the guest of the day, while the piano plays on… yeah, the soup kitchen really does rock for those in need

All folding chairs and it’s worked out well as we’ve replaced our older ones with the better and newer ones and simply given the old away to those in need. It was from on old hall that had to close it’s doors to make way for a new string of shops. So we lucked out and got the chairs… we’re not sure who got the tables. Lots of tables.
We also have been getting a few lamps and then more artwork to hang on the wall in various forms. Some were paint by number, acrylic and the velvet painted on pictures. And they are loved and go like hot cakes for cheap. And we continue to get this nice wall hangings. Somebody out there likes us and is always giving us a helping hand.

Education is something we all cannot get enough of in our opinion, so we like to promote such high quality and educational works-of-art to small children, teens, and young adults, as much as possible. We can do this in many ways, of course, but one we found to be great fun is the Bayeux Tapestries woven into 77 different events for the fun and eventful wall hangings to be talked about with our youth.
Not that many kids know these stories, which is part of history and the shaping of events of long ago. It’s such a beautiful artwork and so nice that the original Bayeux tapestry (which, by the way is 230 feet long!) has been reproduced into all these smaller more manageable wall hangings is a treat. If they hang from the walls in their play room, bedroom or family room or den, the kids begin to wonder about what’s in the picture. What’s that all about? .. and right there you’ve got them captivated for the telling of these stories of William the Conqueror and England and how it all came to be, when William was crowned King.
You can find Bayeux Tapestries and other treasures at Decor4u.com and see what an enjoyment you might find for your children’s education and entertainment, at the same time. Enjoy.

With Wall Street free falling into the abyss and all, it’s a tough row to hoe when it comes to knowing what to do. That’s why I wrote the title the way I did. What the world needs now is love, sweet love.. like the song.
Our global warming issues are worrisome. Being Eco friendly can be a challenge. Knowing what to do with all your cash when stocks are so terrible at the moment is a problem. And when there are so many stressful issues at hand, I say don’t forget to smell the roses along the way, especially when things get to be so negative. By doing this you can find the goodness that remains intact in life.. and there is plenty of that left to go around.
Share the wealth of this goodness, too by smiling more. Greeting your neighbor with a hardy, “Hello”. When driving around, make it a pleasant excursion. The list is endless. Little things can and do help. These are the good distractions.
What the world needs now is love, sweet love. Today I’m buying a beautiful area rug for my living room, so I can lay down with my book and enjoy the day with my sweet little dog by my side. This is a treat for us. What will your treat be today?

Bringing art into your home is a great way to make you feel good, decorate your rooms in a sophisticated style and educate your friends and family at the same time.
Tapestries woven in France using the finest masterpieces painted by the great artists is a nice textile art form to show off some beautiful works-of-art. The Metropolitan Museum of Art show cases many of these paintings in grand style. If you have never had the chance to go to New York City and step into The Met in Central Park, you can go to their internet website and take a look. It’s out of site and worth that trip on the web.
What’s so very cool is these masterpieces are taken to the loom and woven into the same art work, only using a different medium of fabrics. Cotton, wool, silk, rayon, viscose and acrylic fibers are used. Chenilles are made from these fibers, which make up some of the soft, thick and plush wall decor that can also take on double duty as a throw. Two in one with Chenilles.
Even if tapestries are not your ‘thing’, the marvelous works of art in their own right are certainly something to see. Take a gander over at The Met Museum and enjoy some of it’s treasures. It’s the humane thing to do. We say that with a smile.

Monet worked at capturing the sunlight dancing on his subjects just as many other famous artists did during the impressionists period. Finding the perfect time of day to paint was a constant challenge and excitement for Monet, as he would paint the same subject over and over at various times throughout the day. The Irises is one such subject that captured the sunlight perfectly.
Wall tapestry hangings are rich in material and make good use of a famous work of art woven into the tapestry fabric. A nice choice when enhancing your artistic expression in you own home.

Over the holiday weekend we are going to be playing a ton of golf and the event at the course is a Medieval Theme. Wow… we are all wondering what the weather will bring, since our outfits might just be a bit warm for the day… there is also the consideration of being able to move well to swing the club.
One of the men suggested the ladies all come as Lady Godiva’s… all of them. We all thought that was very funny and fun, but not a chance, since she needs a horse, but not much else.
Instead a friend of ours has a beautiful and large Medieval tapestry of Lady Godiva to bring to the event and hang from the club house. Quite a statement it will make.
The women are still wondering what to wear… it will come to us.

Area rugs bring with them much beauty into your home.
Finding just the right colors, patterns, size and shape are all fun challenges in the search for a great rug. Sometimes we are offered gifts from our donations of a nice area rug and then we begin making the room work around the rug.
Regardless, it’s a fun challenge and the results can make the difference in a happy home.

We realize all matter of furnishings are needed when the homeless becomes “with home” and we are here to help that cause.
Wall decor can set the dimensions of your room by hanging some nice colorful works of art on the walls. It sort of “puts” the walls there in the room. A fancy koi fish tapestry contemporary wall decor is wonderful, but so it the artwork of your children to hang on the walls.
Whatever the decorations for the walls may be, be sure to add something cheerful and colorful to help make your new house a home.

We received another batch of wonderful donations from our good people that care. One stood out to us, as it was and oriental rug. It was small and tattered, but was probably so beautiful in the colors and craftmenship in it’s day… what a surprise to get this sweet little area rug.
We ended up giving it to a small child who came in with his mother and a pack of dogs. The little girl wanted a nice bed for her doggie. We felt it was not much use more than to make this little girl happy and run out the door to her pup and give him a hug and put the little rug down for him to lay upon. And the doggie actually lay down right on the rug and the little girl right beside him.
Simple pleasures.

The internet can help us all find what we want. We just made a move to connect with another organization similar to ours in sharing information about lifestyles, home decoration, donations, and all other items on our list.
Not only did we get our information shared we were able to swap fun area rugs and wall decor from our storage facility for kitchen items from theirs.
Very cool way to share. Everybody wins.
