It is not isolated to just one city or state, violence against the homeless is soaring nationwide. Young adults and teenagers are the vast majority of those attacking the homeless. The National Coalition for the Homeless Organization is working to find a cure to this senselessness. It has indicated that these attacks are look upon as being a sport. Gad, what a terrible situation.
Our homeless are many, many times in a temporary situation and regain their footing and make their way back into society and become gainfully employed and become home owners once again. It’s usually a slow process of digging out from under, but it’s happening all the time.
The National Coalitions help to stop the crime, among a myriad of other help to the homeless. Soup kitchens feed them while they are in transition. The donations help to assist the homeless get going on having a little home decor in their new modest home. It’s all a plan to get them back to where they want to be after recovering from a spot of bad luck. Lets keep our eye on that… it’s a temporary situation and our youth need to be taught that and have a little compassion.
The National Coalition for the Homeless are doing a great job. Lets support them.

Your home depends on your TLC in home decor. And you do not have to go it alone.
We are so pleased to help provide advice that is actually wanted. We know it’s needed, but you do not always get the chance to find acceptance in the advice we so very much want to offer.
Just those fun finishing touches and accents make all the difference with even the most meager means in terms of your home decor. A splash of color here, a child’s drawing put up on the wall, over there. It’s the most basic of levels, but you know what? You would be surprised to see how normal it begins to look in such a short time.
Tomorrow is a visit to the soup kitchen… we will have stories for you.

A time to reflect is sometimes a moment to think back to last year and see how far we have come…
Some of our lifestyles have improved for the better with some newly laid plans in designs that have helped set the habitat straight.
Decorating the right room in the habitat makes all the difference in how we feel and respond in our home environment. A happy home makes for a happy family when the slightest enhancement in home decor actually changes the mood of the room. Wow what a difference a small change in design can do for that room and the disposition of the people living within.

While our new and no longer homeless group are happily gaining homes and moving in, we realize a need to assist with the transition of learning to walk around, so to speak, in their new habitat. Yes, the transition from homeless to with home.
One thing we have discovered is to not only help with their home decor, but their social skills as well. So, we have setup some workshops for our new groups to join. We are not finding a rush for the door to enter and join in, but a few are willing to try for one workshop. We are actually making a party out of the workshop where there is food, dancing and socializing with manners. The please and thank you’s go a long way.
Stay tuned… we will have figured out our workshops a bit more fine-tuned for more success, lets hope.

We have some nice donations and now our group of previously homeless people, that are now with homes can use some help in home decor. Today we are looking into wall decoration in a tapestry wall hanging for their new digs.
Oddly enough, we have been given a great abundance of tapestries through a generous donation from a shop that is moving on and closing their doors and they have a ton of wall hangings that they so generously gave to the homeless shelter. We are so pleased to distribute these fine woven goods to our new group of homeless with homes.
The smiles on the faces are more than enough thanks to keep us working hard by putting our donations together with them in their new home, thus making a wonderful change in the style and look of their home decor.

We found and old and pretty badly beat up old tarp in the donation box on Monday morning. One of our most creative and resourceful volunteers picked up scissors and began cutting away the bad and shaping the tarp into the shape of a heart. That little shape was washed and dyed pink. Glitter and splashes of paint were applied, along with a little saying right in the middle, “Home is Where the Heart Is”.
We have a little girl who’s mom was one of the lucky few who just got her new house… this creative little heart shaped jewel made from a tattered tarp, was given to this child. The mother smiled and the daughter beamed with delight.
As they were heading out the door, the little girl whispered to her mom… I have my heart, now. We can go home. All were happy.
The mom stopped back the next day and told us, Sally put the heart down at the side of her bed, so she would have a nice little kids rugs for her feet to step out of bed and onto first thing in the morning. The house is becoming a home and home is where the heart is. Charming.

Wanna see a homeless person put into a house and make it a home and watch them transform into a happy at last non-homeless person, well you can. We’ve been creative in finding donations of things to help with their home decorating needs. They in turn are taking these items home and putting up pictures to enhance their wall decor.
We even were given an old tattered tapestry as a donation. One women went to pieces over it and took it with her to her new home and one of our college student helpers, pounded some nails in the wall with brackets… took an old broom handle and then carefully helped safety pin the tapestry to the handle. It looks beautiful and it’s a start for this woman in making her new house a home. The smile told the whole story.

We have been getting all these donations lately and they are helping the lucky few who have gone from homeless to living in a home, make it nicer. We have helped give their new house the touches that make it a home… and home is where the heart is, so they are happy.
To one homeless family (that now has a home) a gift of an area rug has made a room in this home warm & cozy and inviting. It is also accenting the home decor with some color and ambiance, which makes all the difference to these folks.
Share your donations with the Homeless and we share our success stories with you.
